Our Mission


ADM what we do

The ADM is a cross industry group committed to:

  • Building the Design Management community –  whatever your role, organization or title, if you manage design, this is your home.
  • Raising Standards – we are working with BSi and other groups in the design and construction industries to establish a code of practice and a UK wide accreditation scheme for design management.
  • Creating Alignment – establishing an industry wide definition of key activities that characterise ‘management of design’ at each project stage.
  • Establishing Thought Leadership – support the design management community by organising live in-person and on-line events where members can showcase best practice, share ideas, debate, network and contribute to the advancement of design management across all project levels within the industry.


Who is the ADM for?


The ADM is for anyone managing design at any stage or field. We recognise that management of design across different project stages comes in many guises, roles and role titles. However, experience and knowledge shared across the industry also demonstrates that there are specific focus areas relevant to each design stage and best design management practices that are shared across all individuals overseeing and managing design, regardless of their title and discipline.

Currently the ADM is looking to establish an industry wide community where members can participate in workshops, consultation sessions, conferences and other activities that will help shape a clearer definition of design management and raise the profile of this very important role within the design and construction industries.

ADM Membership


As a member of the ADM you will get access to:

  • ADM Consultation and volunteer workgroups: Opportunity to have a say: in this space you will be invited to partake in polls and discussions relating to the identification and development of best practice, Code of Practice for the management of design, BSI accreditation scheme and other initiatives led by ADM.
  • Annual conference and events: Information about past and upcoming on-line/ in person events where members and industry leaders can actively contribute to the advancement of ‘design management’ definition and practice within the industry though presentations, discussion, interactions and other events organised by the ADM.
  • Reference library: Curated list of key industry and member’s publications, reference documents, and links to other known forums, groups informing and/or reflecting on management of design.
  • Live knowledge-share: On-line forum where you can ask technical and other questions to others from across the industry. (coming soon)
  • Networking and Community Forum: On-line space for live and message chat and networking between members including advertisement of work opportunities. (coming soon)
